13,300 Dignity Houses Distributed as Minister KTR Inaugurates Housing Colony
Hyderabad(Sep, 21) :Â Minister K.T. Rama Rao, in a momentous event, launched the second phase of the 2BHK Dignity Housing program, symbolizing a significant step towards addressing housing needs within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits. A total of 13,300 dignity houses were ceremoniously distributed today, as Minister KTR personally handed over the property documents to the deserving beneficiaries during the inauguration of the 2BHK Dignity Housing Colony located in Dundigal within the Quthbullapur constituency.
During his address to the assembled audience, Minister KTR emphasized the remarkable impact of this initiative, revealing that the total cost of constructing one lakh double-bedroom house units in Hyderabad amounted to approximately Rs. 9,700 crores, yet their market value soared to an estimated Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 60,000 crores. In a generous gesture, the Telangana government is providing these homes completely free of charge to the underprivileged population. Minister KTR announced the allocation of 13,300 double-bedroom houses at eight different locations within the city on this occasion, marking the completion of the distribution of 30,000 houses, with the remaining 70,000 set to be distributed in the near future. He proudly declared that the 2BHK Dignity Housing program in Telangana stands as the largest slum redevelopment initiative of its kind in the nation.
Furthermore, Minister KTR underscored the transparent and equitable nature of the beneficiary selection process, affirming that public representatives hold no sway in the system. The process relies on computer-based draws, ensuring fairness and accountability. Minister KTR extended his heartfelt gratitude to GHMC officials for their unwavering dedication to this ambitious project.
Highlighting the distinctive nature of Telangana’s double-bedroom housing scheme, the Minister asserted its unparalleled status across the country. He pointed out that no other state government, whether led by Congress or BJP, has undertaken a housing program of this magnitude, offering homes to the economically disadvantaged free of charge. In a somewhat revealing note, the Minister mentioned that even leaders from opposition parties, including Congress and BJP, are recipients of these double-bedroom dignity houses, implicitly challenging their commitment to the welfare of the people during their own tenure.
Minister KTR urged the people to exercise caution and not be swayed by promises made by leaders from other states in the run-up to elections, highlighting Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s unwavering dedication to the welfare of the underprivileged, farmers, and Dalits. He cautioned against falling prey to the allure of visiting leaders from New Delhi and Karnataka, emphasizing the depth of Chief Minister KCR’s commitment to the marginalized sections of society. In a parting shot, he urged the electorate not to be deceived by leaders who make grandiose pledges solely for electoral gains, contrasting their opportunistic approach with the sustained commitment of Telangana’s leadership.
