Telangana Transport Minister Inaugurates First Phase of Green Luxury Buses
Hyderabad(Sep, 20) :Â The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has taken a significant step towards curbing pollution in Hyderabad by introducing eco-friendly “Electric Green Metro Luxury” AC buses for passengers. In the first phase of this initiative, 25 of these green luxury AC buses were formally inaugurated by Telangana Transport Minister P. Ajay Kumar, alongside the company’s VC and MD, V.C. Sajjanar-IPS. These buses are set to be available for passengers in the city starting from the 23rd of this month.
The inauguration ceremony took place at the Gachibowli Stadium in Hyderabad and was marked by Minister P. Ajay Kumar commending TSRTC for its commitment to providing quality transportation services to the people. He likened TSRTC’s efficiency to that of the private sector and praised the transformative changes brought about by VC Sajjanar during his tenure as MD of TSRTC.
Minister Kumar highlighted the city’s expansion in all directions and how improved transportation services, including the Metro, are making it easier for residents to travel. He emphasized the global shift towards electric vehicles and the need to reduce air pollution, especially in India. He expressed his satisfaction that the merger of TSRTC employees with the government is a positive step for the corporation’s protection, acknowledging Chief Minister KCR’s role in this historic decision.
VC Sajjanar, the MD of TSRTC, noted the high demand for electric AC buses in Hyderabad, with an impressive 80% utilization rate on routes to the airport. He revealed that approximately 6,000 people travel in AC buses daily. Encouraged by this response, TSRTC plans to introduce more electric buses to cater to passenger needs, further promoting eco-friendly transportation in the city.
