Hyderabad : The implementation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in Telangana State for the 2024 Parliament Elections, which commenced on March 16, 2024, has witnessed an impressive crackdown by the Telangana Police. With the guidance of the Election Commission of India and the Chief Electoral Officer of Telangana, the police force has been vigilant in enforcing MCC regulations. A staggering total of Rs. 49 crores worth of contraband, including cash, liquor, precious metals, narcotics, and freebies, has been seized within just three weeks of MCC enforcement.
This crackdown has been facilitated by the deployment of 466 Flying Squads, 85 State Internal Border Check posts, and mobile police parties across the state. The seized items include Rs. 31.12 crores in cash, liquor worth Rs. 3.21 crores, narcotics valued at Rs. 5.41 crores, as well as significant quantities of precious metals and other freebies.
Additionally, the police have deposited 6,647 licensed arms and seized 8 unlicensed arms to ensure the safety and security of the electoral process. Furthermore, the seizure of explosives, including gelatin sticks and detonators, underscores the commitment of law enforcement to maintaining peace and order during the electoral period. This resolute enforcement of MCC regulations serves as a reminder to all citizens to adhere to the guidelines set forth by the Election Commission of India for the smooth conduct of elections.
