Sircilla: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) supremo, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, has issued a stern ultimatum to the state government regarding the repair of the Medigadda barrage and urgent relief for farmers. Rao asserted that failure to address these issues would prompt him and 50,000 farmers to march to Medigadda in protest. He emphasized his party’s readiness to launch a massive agitation post Lok Sabha elections, holding the state government accountable for neglecting Medigadda barrage repairs, leading to agricultural distress and crop losses. Rao accused the Congress government of deliberate negligence in addressing the issue, warning of farmer agitation and suicides if promises remain unfulfilled.
Highlighting the efficiency of central agencies like WAPCOS and state engineering departments in completing the Kaleshwaram project swiftly, KCR criticized the government’s delay in repairing the barrages for political gains. He questioned the government’s inaction amidst farmer distress, demanding immediate compensation of Rs. 25,000 per acre for crop losses and prioritization of agricultural and irrigation issues.
Former CM acknowledged the benefits of the Kaleshwaram project in Karimnagar district but expressed concern over recent crop losses due to water mismanagement. He criticized the Congress for unfulfilled promises and urged them to focus on governance rather than political stunts, warning of consequences if procrastination continues.
Furthermore, KCR condemned Congress leader KK Mahendra Reddy’s insensitive remarks towards weavers and demanded accountability for the government’s failure to provide drinking water despite substantial investments in projects like Mission Bhagiratha. He called for free water supply to all citizens dependent on water tankers. Dismissing BJP’s prospects in Telangana due to their past poor performance, Rao asserted confidence in retaining majority assembly segments.
