Hyderabad(June 17: Telangana State BJP Official Spokesperson N. V. Subhash addressed the allegations made by the Congress party regarding the renaming of the Nehru Memorial Museum & Library (NMML) as the Prime Ministers Museum and Library Society. Subhash clarified that the renaming is not intended as an act of disparagement but rather as a gesture of respect towards all former Prime Ministers, including those from the Congress party.
Subhash pointed out that the Congress party itself has historically neglected the contributions of its own leaders, such as the late Prime Minister and Congress Party President P.V. Narasimha Rao, who was renowned as an economic reformer. The renaming seeks to rectify this bias and acknowledge the contributions of all former Prime Ministers, irrespective of their political affiliations.
Responding to Congress President Mallikarjuna Kharge’s remark that the BJP is attempting to erase the history of others through name changes, Subhash emphasized that the intention of the NDA government is to accord due respect to all former Prime Ministers. He cited the example of the Pradhanmantri Sangrahlaya inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 21, 2022, where all former Prime Ministers were honored and their family members were invited. However, the absence of Nehru, Indira Gandhi, and Rajiv Gandhi’s family members at the event indicated their disregard for their own party members and family, while seemingly prioritizing the projection of Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi as future leaders.
