Hyderabad(June, 17) : World Crocodile Day was celebrated today at Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad as part of the Wildlife Education and Awareness program. The event was inaugurated by A. Nagamani, Dy. Curator of Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad, under the guidance of Prashant Bajirao Patil, IFS, Curator. The participants were welcomed to the program.
The celebration included various activities such as a screening of a short film on crocodile evolution and its ecological significance at the Bioscope hall, accompanied by a Power Point Presentation by Sri. B. Laxminarayana, Zoo Biologist. An animal keeper’s talk show was organized at the crocodile enclosure, where the keeper provided information about the types of crocodiles present in the zoo, their behavior, lifespan, and breeding. The students from Govt High School, Tadban, and MS Mission High School, Hassan Nagar, attended the talk show.
Drawing, essay writing, and clay crafting model competitions were conducted for the students, with around 70 participants. The winners were awarded prizes in different categories. The winners of the competitions were as follows:
Drawing Competition:
- 1st Prize: Sumaiya Begum, 10th standard, Govt High School, Tadban
- 2nd Prize: Rabia Fatima, 8th standard, MS Mission High School, Hassan Nagar, Hyderabad
Essay Writing Competition:
- 1st Prize: Sana Tamanna, 8th standard, MS Mission High School
- 2nd Prize: Samreen Begum, 10th standard, Govt High School, Tadban, Hyderabad
Clay Crafting Competition:
- 1st Prize: Syeda Nabila Fatima, MS, Creative High School, Muradnagar, Hyderabad
- 2nd Prize: Sidra Fatima, MS Mission High School, Hassan Nagar, Hyderabad
Several officers and staff members, including Sridevi Saraswati, Asst. Curator-1, B. Laxman, Asst. Curator-2, A. Satish Babu, Asst. Curator-3, Sri. D. Nagaraju, Dy. Range Officer, Ramesh, Dy. Range Officer, Gulam Yazdani, Dy. Range Officer, Sandeep Goud, Zoo Biologist, B. Laxminarayana, Zoo Biologist, and H.M. Hanifulla, PRO, Zoo, Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad, were also present during the program.
