Hyderabad : Amid soaring temperatures in the summer season, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red color warning to 8 districts, where temperatures exceed 44 degrees Celsius, and an orange color alert to 25 districts with temperatures ranging between 41 to 44 degrees Celsius in Telangana. The Director of Public Health & Family Welfare, Telangana response to this, it’s crucial for citizens to adhere to certain guidelines for protection against the heat wave.
Firstly, maintaining hydration is paramount; individuals are advised to drink water regularly, even if not feeling thirsty, and consider using Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) or consuming homemade drinks like lemon water, buttermilk, or fruit juices with added salts. Carrying water during travel is also recommended. Additionally, incorporating seasonal fruits and vegetables with high water content into the diet is essential.
Secondly, wearing loose, breathable cotton clothing in light colors, covering the head with hats or umbrellas, and wearing appropriate footwear while stepping out in the sun are advised. Thirdly, staying indoors as much as possible, particularly in well-ventilated and cool areas, is advisable. Blocking direct sunlight by keeping windows and curtains closed during the day and limiting outdoor activities to cooler times, such as mornings and evenings, are important precautions.
