Hyderabad(Sep, 5):Â In a significant development, an accused wanted in connection with three white-collar offenses involving fraud and cheating amounting to a staggering Rs. 34.34 Crores has been apprehended by the CID Telangana NBWs Special Execution Team. The accused, identified as M. Sadhajan Girish Prasad, had three non-bailable warrants (NBWs) pending against him since 2020. The case traces back to 2015 when Prasad approached the Chaitanyapuri Police Station and reported Madduru Uma Shankar for posing as a spiritual guru and using the guise of philanthropy to collect money, primarily over Rs. 30 Crores, from him and others. Subsequent investigations revealed a complex web of financial improprieties, leading to the registration of multiple cases in different police jurisdictions.
On 2nd November 2015, another case was registered with CCS, DD, Hyderabad, and on 11th November 2015, yet another case was lodged at Chaitanyapuri P.S., both related to financial irregularities under the banner called “Our Place” and other real estate companies. These cases were later transferred to CID TS Hyderabad for further investigation. The accused, Madduru Uma Shankar, had been evading arrest since 2020, with two NBWs pending at the Hon’ble 1st ADJ Cum MSJ Court at L.B. Nagar, Hyderabad, and one more NBW at Hon’ble MSJ Court, Nampally, Hyderabad.
Following the directives of Addl. DGP, CID Telangana, special teams for NBW execution were formed under the supervision of B. Ram Reddy, SP CMS, CID, TS Hyderabad. On September 4, 2023, the CID’s Special Team, led by M. Naresh, SI of Police, in charge of the NBWs Special Execution Team, successfully located and apprehended the absconding accused in Kompalli, Hyderabad, through diligent investigative efforts.
Addl. DGP, CID Mahesh M. Bhagwat, IPS, commended the Special Team for their outstanding work, and they are set to be rewarded for their dedication and persistence in bringing the accused to justice.
