Chairman Krishank Manne: Telangana’s Sand Policy is a Game Changer, Not a Family Affair
Hyderabad : Krishank Manne, Chairman of the Telangana State Mineral Development Corporation (TSMDC), firmly defended Telangana’s Sand Policy against allegations made by Rahul Gandhi during a recent event in Mulugu. Krishank Manne rebuked Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of making baseless claims regarding the state’s sand mining policy. He asserted that under the leadership of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, Telangana’s sand policy has significantly increased revenue, soaring from a mere Rs. 39.66 Crore during the Congress regime to an impressive Rs. 5,901.73 Crore. This revenue boost was achieved without raising sand prices, all thanks to the introduction of the New Sand Mining Policy in 2015.
Krishank Manne pointed out that the previous sand policy made it arduous for people to access sand for construction purposes, but the new transparent system, initiated under Chief Minister KCR’s guidance, has made it easy for citizens to apply online and obtain sand. Even during the rainy season, there was no shortage of sand, and rates remained stable.
Krishank emphasized that sand rates in the open market have not increased since 2014. The effectiveness of Telangana’s Sand Mining Policy was also recognized by the Central Government, and other states were encouraged to adopt a similar approach. Several states, including Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu, have studied and emulated Telangana’s transparent sand mining system, as it stands as a shining example of best practices in the industry
