Hyderabad :Â On 11th June 2024, the Secunderabad Railway Police, in collaboration with the Railway Protection Force (RPF), conducted a surprise check against drug peddlers on platforms and trains at Secunderabad Railway Station. During this operation, four individuals were apprehended for transporting dry ganja from Gajapathi, Odisha, to Pune, Maharashtra.
The accused are:
- Silu Bastaray (29), Businessman, from Garadama Village, Adava Thana, Gajapathi District, Odisha.
- Kiran Bagh Singh (26), Agricultural labourer, from Taparang Village, Chandrapur Thana, Rayagada District, Odisha.
- Sachin Palta Singh (24), Room boy in Secunderabad for four months, from Taparang Village, Chandrapur Thana, Rayagada District, Odisha.
- Shaik Rizwan (27), Auto driver, from Nagapuri Gate area, Valgaon Road, Amaravati, Maharashtra.
Two other accused, Laxman Kale from Pune, Maharashtra, and Rahul Pimble from Maharashtra, remain absconding.
The producers (A-1 to A-3) were responsible for cultivating ganja in Gajapathi District, Odisha, and transporting it to Secunderabad, where they intended to sell it to Shaik Rizwan (A-4), Laxman Kale (A-5), and Rahul Pimble (A-6). These individuals would then distribute the drugs in Pune and Amaravati at higher prices.
On 10th June 2024, the accused transported 24 kilograms of dry ganja via the Nagawali Express to Secunderabad. Upon arrival on 11th June 2024, they waited for the receivers on Platform No. 7. Around 10:00 AM, GRP and RPF staff apprehended them based on suspicion. A search of their three luggage bags revealed 24 kilograms of dry ganja worth Rs. 6,00,000. The contraband was seized, and a case was registered under Cr.No.267/2024 U/s 8(c) r/w 20(b)(ii)(C) of the NDPS Act by the RPS Secunderabad.
The operation was led by M.A. Majeed, SIRP/SHO of RPS Secunderabad, with the support of other officers including D. Ramesh, K. Koteswara Rao, K. Narayana, K. Nageswara Rao, M. Govardhan, and Sri. CH. Sadanandam from RPS Secunderabad. RPF staff involved included K. Shyamsunder, Shiva Prasad, and Manoj Kumar, under the supervision of Shaik Saleema, Superintendent of Police, and S.N. Jawed, DSRP SC(U). ADG Railway and Road Safety, Mahesh Bhagwat IPS, appreciated the efforts of the officers and announced suitable rewards for them.
