Hyderabad(July, 22) :Â During a significant visit, 2014 Nobel Peace Prize laureate Kailash Satyarthi praised the Telangana Police for their remarkable efforts in combatting trafficking of women and children within the state. Satyarthi, being the son of a Police Constable himself, expressed deep concern about the rising incidence of sexual abuse of children, largely attributed to the proliferation of explicit content on platforms like YouTube. He commended the Telangana Police for their initiatives in tracing missing children and reuniting them with their families, which had a substantial impact in curbing child trafficking and related crimes.
The Telangana DGP, Anjani Kumar-IPS, highlighted the government’s dedication to the safety of children and women, leading to the establishment of a specialized women’s safety department. The visit was significant, as it marked the first time a Nobel laureate had graced the DGP office. Satyarthi’s organization, Bachpan Bachav, was praised by Additional DGP, CID Mahesh Bhagwat-IPS for its efforts in saving countless children, leading to positive reforms such as the registration of FIRs for missing children.
The Telangana Police were also lauded for their anti-trafficking work, evident through the establishment of 31 AHTUs (Anti-Human Trafficking Units) across the state. The police logo, incorporating the values of compassion, duty, and honor, reflects their unwavering commitment to the cause. In response to Satyarthi’s visit, the police officials honored him for his relentless crusade against child oppression and his unwavering dedication to safeguarding every child’s right to education and protection from exploitation.
