Hyderabad :Â The Diamond Jubilee celebration of Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad was marked by exciting developments and initiatives. A. Indrakaran Reddy, Minister for Environment, Forest, Science and Technology, Law, and Endowments, T.S, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, joined by Mohammed Khader, Corporator of Bahadurpura division. The event saw the inauguration of a new integrated Ticket office at the main entrance, streamlining the ticketing process for visitors. A fresh zoo logo and a Diamond Jubilee pylon were unveiled, commemorating 60 glorious years. Notably, a new E-Road Train, generously donated by Gland Pharma Ltd and designed by the Sudha Car Museum, was launched, offering enhanced mobility within the zoo.
Adding to the excitement, an exotic “Capuchin Monkey” species made its debut in the primate park, thrilling visitors as a pair was introduced to the display enclosure. Divyani, the mother of two Royal Bengal Tiger (White) Cubs, made her debut in the enclosure, where she and her cubs were affectionately named “Shiva” and “Parvathi.” A captivating short film about the zoo was premiered, showcasing its unique offerings. Dignitaries honored major donors and adopters with shawls and mementos, recognizing their invaluable support. Students who excelled in drawing and essay writing competitions during the Vanya Prani Saptah celebrations were awarded prizes.
A. Indrakaran Reddy congratulated the dedicated zoo staff, highlighting the park’s modernization efforts and its potential to become the world’s top zoo. He commended their relentless dedication to growth and excellence since the zoo’s inception. Mohammed Moazam Khan, Member of Legislative Assembly, Bahadurpura, expressed pride in the zoo’s achievements in wildlife conservation and breeding, particularly in preserving endangered species.
