Hyderabad(1st April) : Nowadays every person is troubled due to increasing heat, and he starts looking for coolness around him, in the same way animals also get disturbed due to heat. In view of the rising temperature in summer, the Hyderabad Zoo administration made special arrangements in the zoo to save the birds and animals from the heat.
Nehru Zoological Park administration has taken up the summer arrangements and precautionary measures to avoid summer stress & stroke in the interest of animal’s health, care and protection of the Mammals, Birds , Reptiles and other animals. Watering on Lawns & Gardens is continuously done to keep the enclosure and its surrounding green and cool from 1st week of March, 2023 to Mid of June, 2023.
1. More than 200 sprinklers and small rain guns are fixed in all enclosures particularly in Herbivores.
2. More than 1000 Foggers in the Reptile House, New Macaws, all Pleasantry and Aviary area in Zoo Park.
3.Arranged more than 1000kgs of thunga grass on roof of enclosure night houses at least 6 inches breadth.
4. Provided shade net to the Duck Pond, Stork Pond area.
5. More than 80 air Coolers in monkeys, Carnivore and Omnivores enclosures.
6. Air Conditioners and Exhaust Fans are fixed in the Nocturnal Animal house and cub rearing centre.
7. Temporary shady shelters provided to all Herbivore enclosures.
8. Provided seasonal fruits like Water Melon, Musk Melon and Citrus Variety Fruits to all Apes, Monkeys, Primates, Birds and Bears.
9. Provided ample of protected cold water to all animal houses time to time to avoid De-hydration.
10. Provided Glucon–D, Electral Powder, Vitamin–C supplements, B-Complex supplements, Stresswell and Thermo Care Liquid in the water to avoid summer stress (Veterinary Section).
11. Kashkash Thattis provided to all Animal House enclosures to avoid where direct sunlight exposure on the animals.
12. Atleast 3 to 4 times watering is done on the Kashkash thattis and thunga grass to avoid summer stress.
13. Thunga grass provided on the top of all animal houses to avoid summer stress including aviaries and Macaws area with atleast 4 inches breadth.
14. All Animal Keepers, Head Animal Keepers, Park Supervisor have taken preventive steps time to time to avoid summer stress to the wild animals, Birds and Reptiles etc.
Curator, Nehru Zoological Park, Prashant Bajirao Patil inspected all the summer seasonal arrangements and instructed to the field staff to keep a constant vigil on the animals, Birds, and reptiles as they were doing earlier. He also appreciated the efforts putting by the animal keepers, Malis and workshop technicians in the maintenance to over come the summer related issues. Very soon we are going to conduct Wildlife Education and awareness programmes for school students after the examinations. He also requested to the wildlife and nature lovers to come up with special ideas for the welfare of the animal, forest and zoo. All are most welcome with new ideas and concept to Zoo office.
