Green India Challenge founder and BRS MP Santosh Kumar message on the occasion of 50th anniversary of Project Tiger.
The Union Government has introduced Project Tiger to the protection of Forests and Tigers across the country in 1973. Today marks 50 years of Save Tiger movement. Tiger population has increased significantly due to the steps taken under Project Tiger in the country. The number of tigers recorded at the time of launch of Project Tiger was only 1827. By 2022, the total number of Tigers in the country reached 2967.
The number of Tiger reserves has also increased from 9 to 53. Rajya Sabha MP and member of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Forests and Environment J Santosh Kumar shared the importance of Project Tiger on his Twitter account.

On the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of the Save Tiger movement, MP Santosh Kumar released the Tiger book, T-shirt and coffee mug souvenirs prepared by the Amrabad Tiger Reserve of Telangana.
The MP said that Amrabad and Kawal Tiger sanctuaries are very well managed by the Telangana Government and Forest department. As a result, the number of Tigers increased significantly.
Santosh Kumar said that “the Green India Challenge is already striving to increase green cover across the country and create awareness on environmental protection. The Green India Challenge will also support the protection of tigers”. MP Santhosh Kumar said that Tiger plays a vital role in the maintenance of ecological balance. The MP called upon people to educate new generations about the importance of protection Tiger and make them responsible in the conservation of the wildcat.
Green India representatives Karunakar, Raghava and Srikanth Bandu participated in the programme.
