Patiala(Punjab) : The investigation into the tragic death of a 10-year-old girl in Aman Nagar, Patiala, resulting from consuming cake has taken a perplexing turn. Despite concerted efforts, neither the police nor the health department has succeeded in tracing the bakery responsible for supplying the fatal cake on the 24th.
In a bold move, the family of the deceased recently re-ordered a cake from the same shop using the same app. Upon the delivery, they confronted the delivery boy, demanding to be taken to the bakery from where the cakes were sourced on both occasions. The delivery boy led them to an Indian bakery in Patiala, where the owners denied any association with the cakes sold on the fateful day. They claimed to have ceased their dealings with Kanha Bakery, purportedly the source of the fatal cake.
The police subsequently detained the delivery boy for questioning. However, when they approached Kanha Bakery, the owners had vanished. Complicating matters, the GST numbers provided by the two bakeries differ, adding layers of complexity to the investigation. Despite these challenges, the police have yet to make any arrests. The case has now taken an online dimension, prompting authorities to enlist the support of the IT Cell Punjab Police to trace the elusive online bakery, signaling a new phase in the investigation.
