Hyderabad : On June 26, 2024, the Government Railway Police (GRP) of Secunderabad marked the “International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking – World Anti-Drug Day-2024” by destroying 1,575 kilograms of dry ganja, valued at Rs. 4 crores, at Romo Industries, Turkapur Village, Bhongir. This significant quantity was seized in 52 cases, with specific details as follows:
Secunderabad Urban accounted for 579 kgs in 22 cases worth Rs. 1,44,75,000, Secunderabad Rural had 98.68 kgs in 5 cases worth Rs. 24,50,000, and Khazipet Division contributed 896.70 kgs in 25 cases worth Rs. 2,24,00,000.
The destruction was documented through photographs and videos, adhering to procedures set by the Railway Secunderabad Drug Disposal Committee. The committee included Chairman Chandana Deepti, IPS, Nodal Officer and Member S.N. Jawed, DSRP(U) Secunderabad, Member T. Krupakar, DSRP Khazipet, alongside officers from IsRP Secunderabad, Kacheguda, Hyderabad, Khazipet, Warangal, Khammam, Secunderabad Line, and Hyderabad Line, under the supervision of Mahesh M Bhagwat, IPS, ADGP Railway, Telangana State.
