Hyderabad(June, 27) : The Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister, K.T. Rama Rao, conducted a comprehensive review meeting in Hyderabad to assess the city’s monsoon preparedness and the functioning of the newly introduced Ward Office system. The meeting aimed to ensure effective measures were in place to handle monsoon-related situations and improve citizen services. Various officials from different departments attended the meeting and provided updates on ongoing preparations.
The Minister emphasized the significance of prioritizing public safety during the monsoon season. He directed officials to enhance measures to prevent any loss of life and effectively address potential flood and heavy rain situations. Safety audits of canals in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and other municipalities across the state were successfully completed, reducing the threats of flooding in several colonies. The Minister instructed officials to identify low-lying areas and arrange necessary resources such as dewatering pumps to prevent waterlogging. Constant monitoring of water storage levels in ponds and lakes across the city was also stressed to prevent overflow.
K.T. Rama Rao reviewed the recently inaugurated Ward Office system in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). While acknowledging that the system may encounter initial challenges, he urged officials to promptly address any issues faced by citizens. The Minister emphasized the importance of regular visits to the ward offices to monitor their performance and ensure efficient service delivery. He also recommended the establishment of an information technology team to leverage technology for better system efficiency. Internal review meetings were suggested for all departments involved in the Ward Office system to enhance its effectiveness.
During the meeting, Minister K.T.
