Hyderabad(Dec, 29) : Senior Journalist Virahat Ali has been unanimously elected as the state president of the Telangana State Union of Working Journalists (TUWJ). Having served as the state chief secretary for two terms, Virahat Ali submitted his nomination with the support of all district presidents, secretaries, and union members of the state. With only one nomination received by the deadline on December 29, his election was unanimous.
In his new role, Virahat Ali has pledged to tirelessly fight for the welfare of working journalists, protection of their rights, and media freedom. He emphasized a commitment to addressing key concerns such as health, safety, and housing for journalists in the state
