Speech of DGP, Telangana at Annual Press Meet

I stand before you today with a sense of accomplishment and gratitude as we reflect on the year 2023, a year that, I am pleased to announce, has been incident-free compared to its predecessor. Despite the challenges posed by the legislative Assembly Elections, the Telangana State Police has tirelessly striven to ensure the safety and well-being of our citizens.

Undoubtedly, this year has been demanding for both the police force and our esteemed media colleagues, with the pre-poll and post-poll events consuming our time and attention. Nevertheless, our commitment to duty, honor, and compassion remains unwavering, and we reaffirm that basic policing will always be our core mission.

In alignment with the government’s vision of Praja Vani/Praja Palaana, all officers have been directed to be accessible and transparent in their daily operations. We recognize the trust that the people place in us when they come to us in times of distress, and as the Telangana State Police, we pledge to be empathetic and responsive, especially to the vulnerable sections of society.

Our duty extends to resolving citizens’ issues within the ambit of the law, honoring the dignity of each person, and actively engaging with communities through outreach, serving beats, and patrols. Our focus remains steadfast on the quality of investigation, efficient traffic management, and collaboration with all stakeholders to expedite the journey of citizens through the criminal justice system.

As we look ahead, two major challenges loom large — the menace of drugs and the rise in cybercrimes. Recognizing these threats, the government has reinforced our capabilities with the establishment of dedicated wings. We will be unyielding in our approach towards those involved in drug-related activities, enforcing a zero-tolerance policy.

For cybercrimes, the Telangana State Police has been a pioneer in establishing an exclusive Cyber Security Bureau. We have received a substantial number of complaints, registered FIRs, frozen assets, and taken significant steps to curb cyber offenses. I urge citizens to remain vigilant, exercise caution online, and report any cybercrime promptly.

In conclusion, I assure the citizens of Telangana that the police force will be Responsive, Respectful, and Reachable to all. Together, let us build a safer and more secure future for our beloved state.
