India’s First Underwater Metro Train started today

Kolkata conducts a test run of the country’s first underwater metro

Kolkata: The trial run of the country’s first underwater metro train started today. A metro train with two to six coaches did a trial run of 4.8 km between Esplanade and Howrah Maidan as part of the trial run. Notably, the city of Kolkata saw the inauguration of the country’s first metro in 1984.

Let us tell you that in this tunnel dug under the Hooghly river, the metro rail will run at a speed of 80 kilometers per hour. It will take less than a minute to travel the way down the river. The tunnel built under this river will pass 13 meters below the Hooghly river.
