Hyderabad : The State Cabinet has taken a momentous step by approving an ambitious plan to enhance the city’s transport infrastructure at a staggering cost of Rs 60,000 crore. The plan primarily focuses on the expansion of the Metro Rail projects, aiming to connect various areas within the State capital. The meeting, which spanned over six hours, culminated in the crucial decision, with Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao expressing confidence in securing Central assistance for the proposed Metro Rail expansion. Nevertheless, he emphasized that if the assistance were not forthcoming, the State would independently raise the necessary funds.
Minister KTR further highlighted the government’s vision of making Hyderabad’s transport system the best in the country. The planned Metro Rail expansion intends to establish connectivity between Hyderabad and various regions across the nation, including a proposed corridor between Jubilee Bus station and Tumkunta on the Godavarikani route.
On the Vijayawada route, the Metro expansion is set to connect LB Nagar to Pedda Amberpet, while on the Warangal route, the extension will link Uppal to Bibi Nagar. Additionally, a new Metro line is planned to connect Uppal and ECIL crossroads, further enhancing accessibility.
The Bengaluru Highway corridor will witness significant expansion, with the Metro line extending from Shamshabad to Shadnagar via Kothur. Moreover, a separate line from Shamshabad to Kandukur is proposed, aiming to provide efficient connectivity to the upcoming Pharma City
