Suryapet(July, 2) : Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Principal Secretary, Department of Tourism, Culture, and Archaeology and Director, Heritage Department visited the Fhanigiri Buddhist site in Nagaram Mandal of Suryapet District on Sunday along with the Conservation Officers of the Archaeology Department. He released 3 Buddhist sculptures that were recently conserved.
On this occasion, Sandeep Kumar Sultania said that the 3 Buddhist sculptures will be displayed in a special exhibition named “Tree and Serpent” in the Metropolitan Museum in New York, USA from November 17, 2022 to April 13, 2023. He will be participating in the opening ceremony of this exhibition in New York along with the Minister of State for Tourism and Culture, Srinivas Goud. The exhibition will also be held in Seoul, the capital of South Korea from December 22, 2023 to April 14, 2024.
Sandeep Kumar Sultania said that these exhibitions will help to promote the historical Buddhist monasteries and region of the state attract tourists from all over the world. He also expressed his gratitude to the Archaeological Survey of India for their cooperation in conserving the Buddhist sculptures.
