High-Level Meeting Assures Comprehensive Arrangements for Muharram

City Police Commissioner Holds Coordination Meeting with Shia Community for Muharram Preparations

Hyderabad(July, 11) : In preparation for the upcoming Muharram on July 29th, City Police Commissioner CV Anand held a coordination meeting with members of the Shia community at Salarjung Museum to discuss security, traffic management, and other necessary arrangements. During the meeting, CP Anand informed the community members that a high-level meeting chaired by honorable ministers had taken place, ensuring that the city police were diligently organizing all required measures. He requested the cooperation of the community members and other departments involved.

CP Anand highlighted the deployment of Taskforce, SHE teams, crime teams, and an increased presence of traffic police to maintain smooth traffic flow. Patrolling would also be intensified from the first day of Muharram. He informed them about the provision of an elephant for the procession as per the Government Order and urged the community to ensure the rest and safety of the animal. Emphasizing the procession route, he stressed the need for a strict perimeter around the elephant. Additionally, he mentioned that a dry run would be conducted and joint control rooms would be set up at strategic locations by the city police. Addressing the solemn nature of the mourning procession, CP Anand appealed to the community members, stating “As this is a mourning procession to express solidarity and a time to remember the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussein, let us do the maatam with our hearts and set the differences aside.” 

The mourning procession, which signifies a 400-year-old tradition to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, will witness the participation of thousands of Shia Muslims. It will commence from Bibi-ka-alam in Dabeerpura, passing through Charminar-Gulzar House, Purani Haveli, and Darulshifa, before concluding at Chaderghat.

During the meeting, GHMC Zonal Commissioner Venkanna assured that maintenance works, electrical arrangements, and lifting operations would be completed in a timely manner. The community members applauded the arrangements being made by the state government and the city police. Several MLAs, MLCs, and Muslim clergy present at the event appealed to the brethren to cooperate with the on-duty officers.
