Srinagar (J&K) : Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, visited Dargah Hazratbal today to pay obeisance at the shrine and review the ongoing development work. He was accompanied by the Chairperson of the J&K Waqf Board, Dr. Syed Darakhshan Andrabi.
Addressing the media, Rijiju praised the developmental initiatives undertaken by the J&K Waqf Board at Hazratbal and other shrines across Jammu & Kashmir. He commended Dr. Andrabi’s leadership, stating, “Dr. Andrabi has transformed the Sufi shrines in J&K, and the development carried out under her leadership can serve as a model for all shrines across India. As the Minister of Minority Affairs and Chairman of the Central Waqf Council, it is my responsibility to strengthen the J&K Waqf Board, and we will take steps in this direction.”
Responding to a query about Haj pilgrims, he said that due to rising temperatures in Saudi Arabia, the government has increased the deployment of medical staff to ensure the safety of pilgrims. Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi expressed her gratitude to the minister for visiting the globally renowned spiritual site of Hazratbal and briefed him on the board’s ongoing initiatives.
