Hyderabad :Â Amidst the incessant rainfall over the past three days, GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose emphasized the need for heightened vigilance among field-level officials. During his inspection of the flooded areas in Adarsh Basti, Himayat Nagar, as well as Nallakunta Padma Nagar, Met areas, and the ongoing drainage works with Mushirabad MLAs and Mutha Gopal, the Commissioner assessed the impact of the heavy rains.
Prompt action was taken to address the flooding in the low-lying area of Himayat Nagar Street No. 14. The Monsoon Emergency Team and DRF Team worked diligently, deploying motors to pump out the water and rescue those affected by the flood.
Accompanied by EVDM Director Prakash Reddy, Zonal Commissioner Ravi Kiran, Lake CE Suresh Kumar, and YS Anand, Commissioner Ronald Rose investigated the reasons behind the Nala overflowing. Officials attributed the increased water levels to the high flow of water in Hussain Sagar Nala.
Fortunately, no loss of life or property had been reported due to the efficient use of motors to control the water levels throughout the night. Looking ahead, the Commissioner assured the public that preventive measures, such as constructing a return wall for the canal in Adarsh Basti on Himayat Nagar Street 14, will be taken to mitigate future flooding incidents. Minister KTR is closely reviewing the measures implemented by GHMC in response to the three-day rain.
