Election Code Compliance Emphasized by GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose in Hyderabad

Hyderabad(Oct, 31) : A meeting held by the Hyderabad District Election Officer, GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose, regarding the upcoming elections.

Prior Permission for Meetings and Rallies: Election Officer Ronald Rose emphasized that political parties should seek prior permission for holding meetings and rallies. They should use the Suvidha app to request permission for their campaign activities.

Compliance with Election Code of Conduct: Political parties were reminded to follow the Election Code of Conduct throughout the election period.

Informing Local Police: Local police officers should be informed about the location, time, and other details of meetings, rallies, and the use of loudspeakers.

Identification for Campaign Participants: Activists participating in the campaign should have badges and identity cards.

Voter Slip Regulations: The voter slips distributed by political leaders should not contain any symbols or party symbols.

Handling Election-Related Complaints: Politicians were advised to file election-related complaints with Election Commission observers, Returning Officer, Zonal and Sector Magistrates, CEO, and ECI.

Campaigning Guidelines: Political party representatives were reminded not to solicit votes on the basis of caste, religion, or community. Speeches should not incite caste, religion, or language-based tensions. Campaigns should not take place in places of worship, and freebies should not be distributed within 100 meters of polling stations.

Campaign Timing Restrictions: Campaigning should not be conducted within 48 hours before polling, and loudspeakers should not be used between 10 pm and 6 am. The distribution of liquor during elections is prohibited.

Nomination Procedures: Details about the nomination process were outlined, including the timing and procedures for filing nominations, the number of vehicles allowed in the RO’s office, and the requirement for contesting candidates to publish their criminal records.

Expense Declaration: Political parties should declare expenses on posters, banners, and other materials used in elections according to the rate chart.

Voter Facilitation Centers: Steps will be taken to set up voter facilitation centers in polling stations.

Voter Awareness Programs: Voter awareness programs were conducted for Residential Welfare Associations, Colony Welfare Associations, and college students, with a focus on increasing the polling percentage.

EVM Awareness: Awareness meetings on Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be organized for agents and party representatives.

Help Desk for Candidates: A help desk for candidates will be set up under the Assistant Returning Officer (ARO).
