Hyderabad(Oct, 21) : With the approaching State Assembly election notification date, Chief Election Officer Vikas Raj, CEO, recently conducted a comprehensive video conference involving Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Returning Officers (ROs), and senior officials to assess the ongoing preparations. During the conference, he emphasized the need to address emerging gaps and discrepancies, despite clear instructions provided to all concerned parties. The CEO was particularly concerned about complaints received from both the public and political parties. He urged district-level officials to promptly convene district grievances committees on seizures, even proactively, to ensure swift resolution of legitimate cases, considering all relevant factors. He also stressed the importance of preparing and submitting meticulous reports, including details of the legal provisions under which seizures occurred.
Furthermore, the CEO directed that extensive awareness campaigns should be conducted regarding the District Grievance Committee. Additionally, he underscored the necessity of providing receipts for every seizure and informing aggrieved parties about the proper channels for appeal.
DGP, CID Mahesh Bhagwath-IPS emphasized the importance of instilling confidence in voters and recommended visible police presence, such as flag marches and drone surveillance. He also instructed officials handling seizures to issue receipts without exceptions. Lokesh Kumar called for conclusive reports from those on election duty, while Sarfaraj elaborated on the usage of various forms. Satyavani advised all District Electoral Officers (DEOs) to upload the 12D form on their websites for the convenience of those in need.
