Central Election Team from Delhi Inspects State’s Readiness for Upcoming Elections

Hyderabad(Nov, 1) : A central election team, led by Dharmendra Sharma, Senior Deputy Election Commissioner, along with Shri Nitesh Kumar Vyas, another Senior Dy.EC and Avinash Kumar, Principal Secretary, ECI, arrived from New Delhi to assess the preparedness of the State election machinery for the upcoming State Legislature elections. The team received detailed presentations and briefings from officials, including Vikas Raj, CEO, Lokesh Kumar, addl CEO, and others, on the progress of the election preparations. They also held review meetings with key officials, including Anjani Kumar, DGP, and Sunil Sharma, Spl. CS (Excise & CT), among others.

The central team provided instructions on various aspects of the election process, including handling freebies and seizures. They advised officials to consider the evidence when dealing with seizures and inquired about cases seized under 102 Cr. PC. The team also stressed the importance of finding innovative methods for monitoring transportation routes of seized items such as liquor and narcotics.

Additionally, the team expressed satisfaction with the integrated control room set up for monitoring various election-related activities. They focused on the timely clearance of pending voter list applications, the status of printing and distributing EPIC cards, voters’ information slips, and the issuance of MCMC certificates on a daily basis.

Dharmendra Sharma inquired about the installation of surveillance cameras at key polling stations and praised the arrangements for media coverage. He showed a keen interest in the preparations for senior citizens and PwD voters, including the issuance of postal ballots for those who wish to vote from their homes. The central team’s visit aimed to ensure a smooth and transparent election process in the State Legislature elections
