BJP IT Cell Chief Amit Malviya Faces FIR for Controversial Tweet Against Rahul Gandhi

Karnataka : FIR has been lodged against Amit Malviya, the BJP IT Cell chief, under sections 153A, 120B, 505(2), and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Bengaluru’s High Grounds Police Station in Karnataka. The complaint was filed by Ramesh Babu, a Congress leader, in response to a tweet by Malviya targeting Rahul Gandhi. The FIR highlights the alleged violation of certain sections of the IPC, including promoting enmity between different groups and making statements with the intent to incite public mischief. The legal action against Malviya signifies the growing prominence of social media interactions in the realm of political discourse and the increasing scrutiny of online behavior by law enforcement authorities.

In his complaint, Babu accused Malviya of “conspiring to create enmity among voters” by spreading false information. The complaint was based on the following tweet by Amit Malviya on June 17.
