Andhra Pradesh CID Arrests Chandrababu Naidu in Connection with Skill Development Scam

On September 9, the Andhra Pradesh Criminal Investigation Department made a significant revelation, designating former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu as the “accused no 1” and the principal conspirator in a staggering ₹371 crore skill development scam. The CID’s investigation unveiled that the government order underlying this scheme was issued under Naidu’s instructions, with the apparent intention of causing financial harm to the public exchequer while benefiting private individuals.

In a dramatic turn of events, the former Chief Minister was apprehended by the CID from the RK Function Hall in Gnanapuram, Nandyala town, in connection with this scandal. According to the CID’s remand report, the investigation thus far has revealed that the entire expenditure incurred by private entities on six skill development clusters was exclusively funded by the Government of Andhra Pradesh and the AP Skill Development Center, amounting to a staggering ₹371 crore.

The CID’s allegations extend beyond Naidu himself, implicating the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) as beneficiaries of the misappropriated funds. It asserts that Naidu played a pivotal role in orchestrating the transfer of public funds to private entities through shell companies, leading to substantial losses for the public exchequer and substantial private gains.
