Mulugu : The Kakatiya Heritage Trust, in collaboration with Telangana Tourism, is hosting a 12-day-long World Heritage Volunteers Training camp (WHV) following UNESCO guidelines. This remarkable event is taking place at the UNESCO-inscribed Ramappa temple, situated in the scenic Mulugu district. The camp has attracted 35 enthusiastic volunteers hailing from different corners of India and abroad. Its primary objective is to provide young participants with a profound exposure to the intricacies of heritage conservation, with a specific focus on the Ramappa temple, which stands as the sole World Heritage site within both Telugu states.
Each day at the camp is packed with activities, commencing with invigorating morning yoga sessions from 6:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. During the morning sessions, the volunteers engage in three lectures-cum-demonstrations, delving into topics such as Geo engineering, construction technology, architecture, tourism, and the art and history of Kakatiya heritage, with a special emphasis on the Ramappa temple. In the afternoons, they embark on field visits to apply their newfound knowledge practically.
Notably, the participants had the opportunity to explore the Ramappa temple, where they received insights into the documentation of heritage structures and temple architecture by ASI officials. They also savored a mesmerizing live performance of the Perini dance form, vividly depicted on the walls of the Ramappa temple, immersing themselves in the unique cultural heritage of the Kakatiyas. The camp is being conducted amidst the tranquil setting of the Telangana Tourism Lake Resort at Ramappa, enhancing the overall experience for all involved.
