Unaccounted Gold Worth Rs. 18.2 Lakhs Seized at Secunderabad Railway Station

General Checking at Secunderabad Railway Station Leads to Seizure of Unaccounted Gold

Hyderabad : In a routine operation at Secunderabad Railway Station, authorities apprehended a man carrying unaccounted gold ornaments worth Rs. 18,20,000. This action was part of the ongoing enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct for the upcoming MP elections.

Under the direction of Mahesh M. Bhagawat, IPS, Additional Director General of Police, Railways & Road Safety, Telangana State, the operation took place early in the morning around 5:00 AM. The team, led by B. Saieashwar Goud, IRP-Secunderabad, and including P. Muneshwara Rao, RHC 549, K. Chandrashekar, RPC 35, and RPF/SC, CIB/SC staff, conducted the checks on trains and platforms.

During the checks, the team apprehended Kousik Santra, a 30-year-old goldsmith from Charminar, Hyderabad, on platform no. 2. Santra was found carrying gold ornaments including necklaces, kadas, and ear studs, weighing approximately 260 grams. He was traveling from Secunderabad to Guntur on the Lingampally to Vijayawada Intercity Express. When questioned, Santra failed to produce valid documents or provide a satisfactory explanation for the gold.

The gold was seized and documented under a panchanama before being handed over to the State Tax Department for further investigation. This successful operation was conducted under the supervision of Shaik Saleema, Superintendent of Police, and S.N. Jawed, DSRP Urban-SC.

The authorities have commended the diligence of the officers and staff involved in this operation, highlighting the importance of such checks in maintaining law and order during the election period.
