UGC-NET Exam Cancelled Amid Allegations of Irregularities, CBI Probe Ordered

New Delhi : Following the controversy surrounding NEET, another significant issue has surfaced. The central government has taken decisive action after receiving complaints of irregularities in the UGC-NET exam held on June 18, 2024. The exam, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in multiple cities across the country, has been cancelled. The investigation has been handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Reports of rigging and irregularities emerged shortly after the exam concluded, prompting the government to act swiftly in the interest of the students. On June 19, 2024, the UGC received information from the National Cybercrime Threat Analysis Unit of the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Center (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, indicating that the integrity of the exam had been compromised. In response, the government announced the cancellation of the exam and a thorough investigation by the CBI. A new date for the UGC-NET exam will be announced soon.
