Secunderabad Railway Police Arrest Ganja Peddler with 60 KGs Worth Rs. 15 Lakh

Hyderabad : In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Secunderabad Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) apprehended an interstate ganja smuggler at Secunderabad Railway Station. Dilip Kumar Nayak, 34, from Bhaliapada village in Odisha, was caught with 60 kgs of ganja worth Rs. 15,00,000, destined for Delhi.

The operation, conducted on June 19, 2024, involved surprise checks on platforms and trains. Nayak, transporting dry ganja from Gajapati, Odisha, via the Visakha Express, was intercepted on platform No.02. He was found with six bags of ganja, which he intended to hand over to a contact in Delhi.

Nayak’s arrest follows an extensive investigation revealing that he received the ganja from Tapan, currently absconding, in the Gajapati forest area. The ganja was to be sold at a high price in Delhi.

The GRP and RPF teams, led by B. Saieashwar Goud, IRP/SHO of RPS Secunderabad, successfully apprehended Nayak under the supervision of DSRP SC(U) S.N. Jawed. ADG Railway and Road Safety Mahesh Bhagwat IPS lauded the efforts of the officers and announced suitable rewards for their commendable work.

Nayak has been charged under Cr.No.278/2024 U/s 8(c) r/w 20 (b) (ii) (C) of the NDPS Act, and further investigations are ongoing to apprehend the remaining absconding suspects.
