Interstate Ganja Smuggling Racket Busted at Secunderabad Railway Station
Hyderabad : In a significant operation, the Secunderabad Railway Police and RPF apprehended two ganja peddlers from West Bengal on November 26, 2024, during a surprise check at Secunderabad Railway Station. The accused, brothers Pritam Chowdhury (37) and Satyam Chowdhury (29), were caught transporting 18 kg of dry ganja worth ₹4,50,000.
The duo admitted to procuring the contraband from Shalimar, West Bengal, for ₹18,000 to sell at a higher price in Mumbai. Their activities were motivated by insufficient earnings from their cooking jobs. The officers, under the supervision of Chandana Deepti IPS, Superintendent of Railway Police, and S.N. Jawed, DSRP SC(U), seized the ganja and two mobile phones from the accused.
IGP Railway and Road Safety, K. Ramesh Naidu IPS, commended the GRP Secunderabad team led by B. Saieashwar Goud and announced rewards for their efforts in curbing drug smuggling.
