Hyderabad :Â Hyderabad Traffic Police, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police CV Anand, IPS, conducted a special drive against encroachments on footpaths and carriageways along Tolichowki Main Road. The operation, named ROPE (Removal of Obstructive Parking and Encroachments), involved the mobilization of cranes, machinery, and manpower to clear obstructions. The drive is part of an ongoing effort to restore road width and ease traffic congestion.
In addition to addressing encroachments, the police took strong action against the unauthorized use of sirens in vehicles. Over the past month, the traffic police seized 1,015 sirens and 525 multi-tone horns, which have been a source of road safety concerns. Today, the seized equipment was crushed under a road roller along Tolichowki Road as a symbol of the city’s commitment to maintaining public order and ensuring safe traffic flow.

CP Anand emphasized the need for collaborative efforts from citizens, politicians, and all departments to tackle traffic issues, highlighting that many roadside vendors are encroaching on public spaces. He pointed out that some shopkeepers lease footpath spaces to these vendors, exacerbating the problem. He also urged citizens to educate auto drivers about proper parking.
The Commissioner stressed that the ROPE initiative would continue across the city, with the ultimate goal of clearing footpaths and improving the flow of traffic.
