Odisha : 3 Trains Collided Within Minutes

Odisha(02June) : In one of the worst railway disasters in India, at least 233 people were killed and more than 900 injured when 3 trains collided one after another in a horrific sequence in Odisha’s Balasore district, setting off a massive rescue and evacuation process. The train crash happened near the Bahanaga Baazar station in Balasore district, about 250 km south of Kolkata and 170 km north of Bhubaneswar, around 7pm on 02June. prompting the Railway Ministry to order a probe. Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik has mobilised all the aid for the search and rescue operations in the aftermath of Coromandel Express accident.

Efforts are underway to cut the only bogie left which was severely damaged after the horrific train accident in Odisha’s Balasore, state Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena said on Saturday. Addressing a press conference, Chief Secretary said, “So far around 900 passengers have been injured and are being treated in various hospitals in Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Cuttack districts. A total of 233 dead bodies have been recovered so far. The search and rescue operation is going on.”

Railway staff and officials are present at the accident site and rescue operations are going on at utmost priority.

According to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw Announced, “Ex-gratia compensation to the victims of this unfortunate train accident in Odisha; ₹10 Lakh in case of death, ₹2 Lakh towards grievous and ₹50,000 for minor injuries”.
