Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad Celebrates World Nature Conservation Day and International Tiger Day

Hyderabad : Today, Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad celebrated World Nature Conservation Day and International Tiger Day as a part of their Wildlife Conservation and Promoting Awareness program. The occasion was graced by the presence of esteemed guests, including Rakesh Mohan Dobriyal, IFS, Prl. Chief Conservator of Forests (HoFF), T.S, Lokesh Jayaswal, IFS, Prl. Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) & Chief Wildlife Warden, T.S., Vinay Kumar, IFS, Director of Zoo Parks, T.S., and Prashant Bajirao Patil, IFS, Curator, Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad.

They expressed their congratulations to all citizens on the eve of International Tiger Day and highlighted the state’s pride in the successful conservation efforts for tigers in the Two Tiger reserves (Amrabad & Kawal) and Zoo Parks.

To mark the day, Inter School competitions were organized, engaging over 200 students from 76 schools in various activities, including Quiz, Elocution, Essay writing, Craft workshop, and Drawing competition. The first level of the competition took place online on 28th July 2023, and the second level was held offline due to favorable weather conditions.

A special rally was conducted from the main gate to the Tiger enclosure, where an animal keeper talk added to the educational aspect of the day’s events. Subsequently, the final level of competitions for Quiz, Elocution, essay writing competition, and crafts workshop saw participation from over 60 students, and the winners were felicitated by Prashant Bajirao Patil, IFS, Curator, Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad. The event witnessed the presence of various officers and staff members who contribute to the park’s functioning and conservation efforts.

Nehru Zoological Park Witnesses Heartening Adoption on International Tiger Day

Notably, on the occasion of International Tiger Day, Saila Raju and Sudeepthi adopted two Tigers at Nehru Zoological Park for a period of one year. They presented a cheque of Rs. 2 lakhs to A. Nagamani, Dy. Curator, Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad, towards the adoption charges. The family was impressed with the Zoo’s maintenance and the ongoing Tiger Conservation and Breeding Programme during their visit.

This celebration serves as a significant reminder of the importance of preserving wildlife and the dedication of all involved in safeguarding the majestic Tigers for future generations.
