Hyderabad(July, 16) : Today, as part of the Wildlife Education and Awareness program, World Snake Day was celebrated at Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad. In collaboration with the Friends of Snakes Society, a snake awareness program was organized at the reptile house.
Members of the Friends of Snakes Society, together with the zoo staff, conducted an informative session on snakes, discussing various facts about snakes, different types of snakes, and how to distinguish between venomous and non-venomous species. They also provided guidance on precautionary measures to be taken in case of a snake bite. It was emphasized that snakes play a vital role in maintaining the ecological balance.
Prashant Bajirao Patil-IFS, the Curator of Nehru Zoological Park, and A Nagamani, Deputy Curator, expressed their commitment to celebrating ecological days to raise awareness among the public. They urged all citizens to actively participate in the upcoming ecological events. By engaging in such initiatives, the aim is to foster greater understanding and appreciation for the environment and its diverse wildlife.
