Lal Chandra Meena Assumes Key Role as Director General at Military Engineer Service (MES)

New Delhi : Lal Chandra Meena (IDSE) has assumed the esteemed position of Director General (Personnel) at the Military Engineer Service (MES), a critical organization responsible for executing construction works under the Ministry of Defence. Hailing from Binda village in Aklera tehsil of Rajasthan’s Jhalawar district, L.C. Meena is an accomplished officer of the Indian Defence Service of Engineers cadre with a remarkable track record. His journey commenced with a civil engineering degree from M B M Engineer College, Jodhpur, followed by a degree in M.Tech in Structures from IIT Bombay.

Having secured his position in the Military Engineer Services through the esteemed Indian Engineering Services Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission, L.C. Meena has traversed various significant roles throughout his career. He has served as Additional Director General in Northeast Guwahati, Chief Engineer in Jabalpur Circle, Commander Works Engineer in Goa, Fort Engineer in Chennai, Nalanda, and Jamnagar, showcasing his versatile expertise.

Notably, his tenure as Director General in North East, Guwahati, witnessed the successful execution of strategically vital construction projects along the North Eastern border in the foothills of Arunachal Pradesh, emphasizing his commitment to national security and diplomacy.

Taking charge at the MES Headquarters in Kashmir House, Lal Chandra Meena outlined his priorities, aiming to foster transparency in postings and transfers. He expressed his commitment to matching officers’ skills to appropriate assignments and stressed the importance of timely Departmental Promotion Committees (DPCs) and employee promotions in a conducive environment.

L.C. Meena’s dedication and contributions to the “Married Accommodation Project” during former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s era, which aimed to construct houses for soldiers swiftly and on a large scale, significantly aided the project’s successful completion.

With his wealth of experience and strong leadership qualities, Lal Chandra Meena is set to lead the Military Engineer Service with unwavering dedication, executing construction works with utmost precision and upholding the standard arrangements of the Indian forces in service of the nation.
