Kaleshwaram Controversy: Irrigation Minister Criticizes BRS Demands

Hyderabad : Irrigation Minister Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy criticized the BRS party for spreading misinformation about the Kaleshwaram project, particularly targeting BRS Working President K. Tarakarama Rao’s demand to initiate pumping operations at Kannepalli Lakshmi Pump House.

Reddy dismissed KTR’s suggestions as technically flawed, arguing they ignored critical structural issues identified by the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA). He emphasized that any attempt to pump water could risk damaging key structures and lead to severe flooding. Reddy also condemned the previous BRS government’s mismanagement, highlighting the Kaleshwaram project’s excessive costs and unresolved technical problems. He assured that the Congress government is committed to addressing these issues transparently and following NDSA recommendations to protect public assets.
