Hyderabad(Jan, 11) : The Kacheguda Railway Police, under the vigilant supervision of SP SRP and DSRP, have successfully apprehended a notorious habitual property offender accused of the murder of an unidentified individual at Malakpet railway station. The crime was driven solely by the perpetrator’s desire to steal the victim’s cell phone.
On January 6, 2024, at 0800 hrs, a complaint was lodged by T. Kishore, reporting the discovery of an unknown male dead body, approximately 40 years old, on Platform No.2 at Malakpet railway station. The police promptly registered a case under Cr. No. 4/2024 U/s 174 Cr PC and initiated an investigation.
Upon arriving at the scene, the SHO Kacheguda Railway Police found the victim, aged about 30-35 years, in a pool of blood. The Clues Team was engaged to collect material evidence, conduct an inquest over the dead body, and shift it to OGH. Discreet inquiries were made in the vicinity regarding the deceased with the assistance of local residents.
Upon receiving the Post-Mortem Examination (PME) report, the case was escalated to section 302 IPC. Acting on the directives of SP SRP Salima IPS and A Narsaiah DSRP Secunderabad Urban, a special team was formed for clues and detection, comprising dedicated officers from various units.
During the ongoing investigation, on January 11, 2024, at about 0630 hours, the police apprehended a person acting suspiciously at Yakuthpura railway station. Upon frisking, a knife was found in his possession. The individual, identified as Mohd. Sohail, admitted to stabbing the unknown person on January 6 at Malakpet railway station, stealing the victim’s phone, and selling it for Rs.1700 at MGBS. Sohail, with a history of involvement in property cases across different police stations, is now in custody and will be produced before the court for judicial remand.
Inspector of Police, RPS Kachiguda, is leading the investigation under the supervision of Dy. Superintendent of Police, Railways A Narsaiah, and the guidance of Superintendent of Police (Railways), Secunderabad Shaikh Salima IPS. ADG Railway and Road safety Mahesh Bhagwat IPS has commended the team’s swift actions, and the identification of the deceased is still in progress. The team has been duly rewarded for their efforts in the quick detection of the case.
