Hyderabad Congress Slams BJP for Depicting Rahul Gandhi as ‘New Age Ravan’

Hyderabad(Oct, 8) : In a strong show of protest, Hyderabad DCC President Sameer Waliullah led a massive demonstration by Congress workers against the BJP’s recent depiction of former party chief Rahul Gandhi as a “new age Ravan.” The protest, which took place in Chandrayangutta, saw the burning of an effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Several prominent Congress leaders, including Chandrayangutta Block President Shakeel Dayani, TPCC Minorities Deputy Vice President Kaleem Baba, and Charminar Incharge Mujeebullah Shareef, joined the demonstration.

Sameer Waliullah, speaking to the media, strongly condemned the BJP’s actions, labeling them as hateful and unwarranted. He accused the BJP of being unable to accept Rahul Gandhi’s rising popularity as a national leader and claimed that Prime Minister Modi’s own popularity was declining due to perceived non-performance, arrogance, and divisive behavior. To tarnish Rahul Gandhi’s image, the BJP circulated an objectionable graphic depicting him as Ravan, according to Waliullah.

Furthermore, Sameer Waliullah alleged that the BJP was apprehensive about the Congress gaining ground in the upcoming Assembly elections in Telangana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Mizoram. He claimed that the BJP was resorting to such tactics to divert public attention and even incite violence against Rahul Gandhi. Waliullah emphasized that the BJP’s strategy was aimed at personal attacks because they had little to showcase in terms of performance or policies.

In response to the controversy, Sameer Waliullah cautioned leaders from other parties against making personal comments against Rahul Gandhi or other Congress leaders. He challenged them to engage in open debates on development issues and warned that Congress cadre would respond firmly to baseless criticisms or cheap rhetoric.
