Hyderabad : On April 3, 2024, GRP Secunderabad staff executed a crucial seizure of unaccounted cash amounting to Rs. 11,08,000, a direct violation of the Model Code of Conduct for the Parliament Elections. Acting on the directives of Mahesh M Bhagwat, IPS, ADGP of Railways & Road Safety, Telangana State, the operation unfolded at Secunderabad Railway Station around 21:30 hours. M.A Majeed, SIRP, leading the charge, intercepted Banoth Naveen Kumar, a 25-year-old out sourcing worker hailing from Bayyaram Mandal, Mahabubabad district. Upon questioning, Kumar disclosed his intention to utilize the cash, stowed in bundles totaling Rs. 11,08,000, for a land purchase transaction at Tukaramgate in North Lalaguda.
However, his failure to furnish satisfactory explanations or valid documentation led to the immediate confiscation of the cash by the GRP police. The seized amount was promptly handed over to the Income Tax department, Ayakar Bhavan, Hyderabad, for further investigation and action. The successful operation, conducted under the supervision of Smt. Shaik Saleema, IPS, Superintendent of Railway Police Secunderabad, and coordinated efforts of various personnel, including S.N. Jawed, DSRP/SC/Urban, and M.A Majeed SIRP/Sec’bad, earned commendations and rewards for the diligent officers and staff involved.
