GRP and RPF Personnel Commended for Their Role in Solving Ammunition Theft Case

Swift Action Leads to Recovery of Stolen Ammunition at Secunderabad Railway Station

Hyderabad(Oct, 26) : On October 24, 2023, an incident of theft occurred at Platform No.10 of Secunderabad Railway Station, involving the theft of a backpack containing 60 INSAS rounds, three magazines, and their pouch. Swift and efficient action by the Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) led to the recovery of the stolen ammunition and the apprehension of the individuals responsible for the crime.

The complainant, Sidharth Singh, a 34-year-old CRPF Constable, played a crucial role in reporting the theft. Additional Director General of Railways and Road Safety, B. Shivadhar Reddy, IPS, and SP Railways, Shaik Saleema, initiated an immediate response and formed eight teams comprising GRP and RPF personnel to investigate the case. The investigation involved a meticulous review of CCTV footage from Secunderabad Railway Station.

The prime accused, Nakkeni Ananda Murthy, was identified in the CCTV footage and subsequently apprehended in the Gandhinagar Metro Station area. However, the stolen INSAS rounds, magazines, and pouch were not found in his possession. Through further analysis of CCTV footage from Gandhinagar Metro Station, the investigative teams suspected another individual, an elderly person wearing a red hoodie, who was walking towards Bhulakpur with a concealed heavy object.

After relentless efforts and examination of additional CCTV footage, Rachamalla Satyanarayana, a 65-year-old resident of Bhulakpur, Musheerabad, was found to have picked up the pouch containing the stolen ammunition during his morning walk. The ammunition, including 60 INSAS Rounds and three magazines, was recovered from his possession.

The two accused are Nakkeni Ananda Murthy, a 21-year-old laborer from Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh, and Rachamalla Satyanarayana, a 65-year-old retired private security guard from Secunderabad.

The successful recovery and apprehension in this case highlight the dedicated efforts of law enforcement agencies in ensuring the safety and security of the public and transportation infrastructure. The Director General of Police, Telangana State, assures the public that such criminal activities will be dealt with swiftly and decisively.
