Fit India’s ‘Sundays on Cycle’ Sees 2 Lakh+ Participants Across 5000 Locations

Sundays on Cycle: India Pedals Forward with 300+ Events Nationwide on April 13

New Delhi : In a spirited celebration of fitness, sustainability, and community participation, India witnessed over 300 cycling events under the ‘Fit India Sundays on Cycle’ campaign today. Organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS), the initiative once again energized thousands across the country to pedal towards a healthier and greener lifestyle.

The New Delhi edition was flagged off at New Moti Bagh by Sujata Chaturvedi, Secretary, Sports, in the presence of senior government officials, athletes, and cycling enthusiasts. The event drew participation from around 350 residents representing various RWAs, turning the area into a vibrant hub of activity.

“Fit India is now a mass movement, growing in reach and impact. With over 300 events today, we are truly seeing a fitness revolution take root across India,” said Smt. Chaturvedi. She also referenced the successful Fit India Carnival held at JLN Stadium, recently mentioned by the Prime Minister in Mann ki Baat.

Community, Athletes, and Icons Pedal for Change

The New Moti Bagh rally saw participation from IAS officer Sudhanshu Pandey, who is also the RWA President. He lauded the campaign’s relevance in promoting outdoor activity, particularly in urban areas.

“Sundays on Cycle is exactly what our cities need — a reminder that fitness can be fun and community-driven. We’re proud to have hosted this in New Moti Bagh,” he said.

Joining the ride was Greco-Roman wrestler Nitesh Siwach, bronze medallist at the 2025 Asian Wrestling Championships, who praised the growing awareness around physical fitness.

“Fitness is our true wealth. Seeing people of all ages come together for cycling is inspiring. I hope this movement only grows stronger,” he told SAI Media.

Also present was Rohtash Choudhary, known as the ‘Push-Up Man of India’, holding multiple Guinness World Records, who added a burst of energy and inspiration to the gathering.

Nationwide Impact: From Imphal to Salem

In Imphal, the cycling event was flagged off by Padma Shri Kunjarani Devi, legendary Indian weightlifter, who inspired hundreds to commit to a fitter lifestyle.

In Tamil Nadu, the SAI Training Centre in Salem hosted its own rally with Suresh Kumar S, decorated athlete from the World Police Athletic Championships, leading the charge.

Across the country, events were simultaneously held at SAI Regional Centres, National Centres of Excellence, Khelo India State Centres of Excellence (KISCEs), My Bikes locations, and Khelo India centres (KICs) — all under the joint effort of MYAS, Cycling Federation of India (CFI), MY Bharat, and local administration.
