DGP Urges Public to Dial 100 for Help as Heavy Rains Pose Risk in State

Hyderabad : DGP Anjani Kumar issued a timely alert to the state’s police force, emphasizing the possibility of heavy rains in the coming two days. In a video conference with Police Commissioners and Additional DG Sanjay Kumar Jain, he assured that the police system would remain available 24/7 to provide assistance. Urging the public to report emergencies by dialing 100 or contacting local police immediately, appropriate relief measures would be swiftly taken.

A red alert has been announced for approximately 8 districts, with some areas in North East, East Telangana, and West Telangana also on high alert. The continuous heavy rainfall has filled many projects and ponds, leading police officers to take precautionary measures around these reservoirs. In response to the ongoing floods, the police have relocated people from low-lying areas to safer places, using plastic cones, barricades, and warning flexes to prevent access to flooded roads and overflowing causeways. NDRF teams are on standby for any emergency situations. The public is being sensitized through media channels about safety measures during heavy rains, such as avoiding electric poles and wires in fields and refraining from crossing culverts and small bridges with flowing water. Additionally, caution is advised to avoid waterfalls and full ponds during this challenging weather period.
