Hyderabad : In response to the Meteorological Department’s warning of heavy rains in many parts of the state over the next 48 hours, Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari took decisive action to ensure public safety and minimize potential damages. During a teleconference with District Collectors, Police Commissioners, and other officials, she emphasized the need for heightened vigilance and precautionary measures. With the Godavari basin already experiencing full water levels in various projects, ponds, dams, and canals, the Chief Secretary directed authorities to prevent overflow by stationing special officers at causeways and flood-prone areas. People residing in low-lying regions were advised to be relocated to safer places, and necessary materials were to be made available in identified rehabilitation centers.
Repairing state and national highways damaged by rains was also prioritized. Bhadrachalam, with water levels exceeding 43 feet, was issued the first danger alert, and the Bhadradri Collector was instructed to review the flood situation and take appropriate measures. Furthermore, sanitation works were to be rigorously conducted in all villages, and NDRF troops were put on standby for emergency response.
DGP Anjani Kumar reported the successful relocation of 60 families in Bhadradri Kothagudem district and the alert status of police officers across the state, diligently monitoring the situation. As a preventive measure, the public was urged not to visit waterfalls and tourist spots until normalcy was restored, and local media channels were to disseminate information about precautionary steps. Through the collective efforts of various departments, the state aimed to safeguard lives and property during this challenging weather situation.
