Hyderabad(Jan, 31) : Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police recently apprehended Javed Nawab Yakub Khan for his involvement in a scheme aiding cyber fraudsters. The modus operandi involved duping innocent individuals by falsely claiming that their parcels were detained by customs due to illicit contents, necessitating payments for clearance. Khan facilitated these scams by providing bank accounts to the fraudsters for a commission. He operated under the guise of multiple fake current accounts, profiting from fraudulent transactions.
Notably, Khan’s activities resulted in approximately Rs. 2.85 Crores in fraud, leading to 105 cases nationwide, including 14 in Telangana. The police team, led by Inspector S. Naresh and comprising dedicated officers, successfully cracked the case under the guidance of Joint Commissioner A.V. Ranganath IPS and DCP D. Kavitha, marking a significant victory against cybercrime. The public is advised to remain vigilant against similar scams impersonating customs or police authorities, emphasizing caution in responding to such fraudulent claims.
