Hyderabad : The case revolves around the activities of The Birla Blue Flames Ltd., a company situated in Chandigarh, promoted by the accused (A-1). They appointed Sharada Refrigerators Pvt. Ltd., Allahabad, as All India Distributors for Birla LPG, which was managed by the accused A-3 as its Chairman. Additionally, the accused opened Jagmeetha Enterprises (LPG) as distributors in Andhra Pradesh and other states. Jagmeetha Enterprises later transformed into Jagmeetha Enterprises (LPG) Pvt. Ltd., with Ashok Biswal (A-2) as Chairman and BV Rao (A-5) as Managing Director. These entities had the authority to appoint district-wise distributors and dealers in Andhra Pradesh.
During the period between May 1994 and August 1995, the accused collected a total of Rs. 1,22,91,200/- from individuals as registration fees, security deposits, and cylinder leases. However, after collecting these amounts and appointing dealers, the accused abruptly closed their offices and absconded without providing the promised LPG supply. A case was registered in CID P.S. under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
One of the accused, Ashok Biswal (A-2), had been evading law enforcement for 26 years. Under the guidance of Superintendent of Police B. Ram Reddy, a dedicated team executed a non-bailable warrant against Ashok Biswal in Cuttack, Odisha, and brought him to Hyderabad, where he was presented before the VI Addl. C.M.M. Court at Nampally.
